What kind of products are sold at One Piece A Day?
Our marketplace curates eco-friendly alternatives to single-use and non-biodegradable products.
What do the proceeds from sales go to?
All proceeds go back to OnePieceADay to support our work in saving the planet. This includes covering the costs associated with developing our app, giving school talks, organizing clean-ups, research and more.
What makes the products you sell more sustainable?
We select products made of sustainable materials in sustainable packaging (i.e. biodegradable or recyclable), or that are reusable vs. single-use. Most often the reusable products are also compostable.
Are all of your disposable products and packaging compostable?
Most of the disposable products and packages are compostable, if not they will be biodegradable or recyclable.
What is the difference between biodegradable and compostable?
All compostable materials are biodegradable, however not all biodegradable materials are compostable.
Biodegradable and compostable materials break down naturally by reacting with living organisms such bacteria or fungi. Biodegradable materials however require a certain amount of oxygen and temperature to decompose while compostable materials can readily breakdown in a compost environment.
Compostable materials are environmentally friendlier than other kinds of biodegradable materials as they tend to break down faster, and can be turned into soil feeding compost without releasing toxins. Compostable materials typically break down within a week to 3 months in a compost environment. Biodegradable materials that are not compostable may take years to degrade, but they tend to do so much faster than traditional plastics. A plastic bag for example takes up to 500 years to disintegrate, while some biodegradable alternatives, such as our dog waste bags, do not last longer than 2 years.
Are all your products plastic-free?
We do not sell single-use plastic, but some products may have traces of plastic in them, such as reusable products with plastic parts. At minimum we strive to provide environmentally friendlier alternatives to commonly used disposable plastic products.
Can I travel internationally with compostable products?
Some materials such as beeswax are not permitted on international flights. You may potentially get stopped by officers if their dogs sniff products made of hemp or cornstarch. You will likely be excused for products made of cornstarch but do not take our word for it. Some airlines may prohibit organic materials, check with your airline if you have any concerns.
Do compostable or biodegradable products have limited shelf lives?
In some instances they do, especially compostable products made of vegetable starches, or products with additives that help them oxo-degrade. We provide information as available on products that have limited shelf lives.

What currency is used on the One Piece A Day website?
All orders are processed in CAD.
Why have I not received a confirmation email on my order?
Make sure you have checked your junk mail or spam folder. If you still cannot find your confirmation email please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to ensure you have provided the correct email address during checkout
How is it possible for a product to be in stock within a bundle, but out of stock on its own?
The inventory of each product, along with each variant, is tracked. We pre-bundle our packages and input our inventory accordingly to ensure we do not sell more than what we are able to deliver. If you are interested in an item that appears to be available in a bundle, but not on its own - or vice versa - contact us at email@example.com, or speak with us via the chat box, we would be happy to open up bundles, and re-sort inventory accordingly, to your interest.
How come I do not see a 10% discount on my order even though I have subscribed?
After you subscribe to us you will receive an email that contains a coupon code. You need to enter this code at checkout to get 10% off. Remember that you can only use this coupon once.

If you still cannot find your email with the coupon, you may have entered your email address incorrectly; try submitting your email address again. If after resubmitting you email address, you still not receive your coupon, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or use the chat box and we will send you a code.
