In our last week of Plastic Free July, we are going to be talking about a bigger topic - a topic that allows you to make a long-lasting and permanent change! Everything we do involves taking action, but after slowly working our way to becoming more environmentally aware, our last step is to take political action! Let’s show you 4 ways to make more of an impact!
Recognize the Work and Impact of BIPOC Activists:
Join Local Activists and Environmental Groups:
Idealist Organization allows you to find your nearest environmental activism group
Write To Your Local Politicians About Making A Change:
Legal Line allows you to reach out to the government with the help of legal advice
Citizens for Public Justice allows you to write to your MP
House of Commons allows you to write and contact the MP of a particular constitution
Understanding the Environmental Wisdom Worldview:
Now that you have become more involved in making an impact, this is the last step - taking political action is the last step in making a difference! When you join these organizations, donate and volunteer, YOU are becoming a part of the SOLUTION!
Sooner or later, we will have to recognize that the Earth has rights, too, to live without pollution. What mankind must know is that human beings cannot live without Mother Earth, but the planet can live without humans. – Evo Morales
We hope that this month has inspired you to make changes in your living to become more sustainable. But remember, being sustainable and zero-waste does not mean that you are never allowed to use or buy plastic products - that is impossible. We are simply trying to encourage everyone to become more environmentally aware!
